About Me
Gabrièle Damico, PhD ~ I trained to become a Certified Thriving Relationship Coach through the Center for Thriving Relationships, and I am the founder of Lovelight Relationship Coaching.
As one of six siblings in a tightly-knit, complex family with a large extended family, I've spent my life fascinated by relationships of all kinds. I've served as counselor and confidant for my loved ones from the time I was a child. As a spouse and a mother, I've explored even more deeply what it means to prioritize relationships as my life's work.
This is what I'm meant to do.
My work as a relationship coach grew out of my career as an educator where I spent 26 years in various facets of the education field with ever-evolving roles of teacher, student, and teacher educator. I am grateful for those years in such an important profession and for the opportunity to help prepare the next generation of teachers. Teaching and learning are dependent on connection as a basic foundation to growth. My most profound experiences as a professor occurred not during lectures, but in the problem-solving conversations during office hours with students juggling all of life, not just coursework. This was personal growth work. The mentoring I did for overwhelmed and struggling students in those moments stands out to me because I know it mattered on a deep level. The greatest reward was receiving students' words of gratitude (sometimes months or years later) for simply listening, allowing second chances, maintaining belief in their ability to succeed, and providing suggestions for how to move forward. After a decade of university teaching, I followed the pull to do this interpersonal work of relationship coaching full time.
Relationships are like moving water ~ sometimes calm or sending out ripples, other times crashing in waves. The sun can dance on water's surface while also leaving hidden what lies in the depths underneath. The work I do with clients is like taking a ray of that sunlight and beaming it directly on all that is under the surface. As a coach, I am here to listen to your hopes and dreams for your relationship, to hear you identify your deepest needs, and to help you access your own insight to arrive at a clear understanding and a fulfilling way forward.
